The Coal Miner
This bronze living statue plays homage to our hard working miners of old. We come across this entertaining fellow on his lucky day… he is just about to find a piece of gold!
The performer’s world-class living statue and mime skills make this act captivating and accessible to all kinds of audiences.
Frans Vogels is a well established multi-discipline theatre maker and performer from Holland. His background is in Mime and Pantomime and he has studied with many masters including Marcel Marceau. Frans also studied theatre design at The Academia of Art in Utrecht (Holland).
After his studies he became a mime dancer for the directors Halina Witek and Mauke Cramm and made several shows with them. In the meantime he started his own company Bolo Multi Theatre, where he brought multiple theatre disciplines together to create unique acts for business events and festivals.
Frans’ performances have been described as ‘visual spectacles’ combining humour and finesse. The audience will enter into a poetic experience through the international language of mime, pantomime
and physical expression. The use of unusual materials, such as rubber latex, gives Frans’ costumes a unique and magical quality, and sometimes a startling likeness to wood, iron or stone.
After almost 18 years of directing Bolo Multi Theatre and being instrumental in establishing the concept of corporate theatre in Holland, he decided that it was time for a new challenge. He saw that the power of theatre as a marketing tool is not well recognised in Australia, so here he is.
