Statue Workshops
Frans Vogels is a well established multi-discipline theatre maker and performer from Holland. His background is in Mime and Pantomime and he has studied with many masters including Marcel Marceau. Frans also studied theatre design at The Academia of Art in Utrecht (Holland).
After his studies he became a mime dancer for the directors Halina Witek and Mauke Cramm and made several shows with them. In the meantime he started his own company Bolo Multi Theatre, where he brought multiple theatre disciplines together to create unique acts for business events and festivals.
Frans’ performances have been described as ‘visual spectacles’ combining humour and finesse. The use of unusual materials, such as rubber latex, gives Frans’ costumes a unique and magical quality, and sometimes a startling likeness to wood, iron or stone.
Frans Vogels will introduce the exciting and often misunderstood art of living statue, including history, theory, contemporary developments in the genre, and of course the physical practice.
Mime skills will be included as a foundational skill of physical story-telling and the course will cultivate body awareness and physical and mental discipline.
The nice thing of this workshop is that at the end there is an actual product that they can use for any other event or even in town to busk.
