Dr Nicholas Ng
Dr Ng is a composer, performer and Research Fellow at Queensland Conservatorium. He is passionate about world and sacred music and also works in theatre, dance and film.
On the erhu (2-string fiddle), Nicholas has performed in ensemble at venues including 'The Studio', Sydney Opera House, The Famous Spiegeltent (Melbourne), Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall (Taipei) and Merkin Concert Hall (New York City).
He toursperiodically in William Yang’s Performing Lines production China, which has travelled around Australia (Melbourne International Arts Festival, OzAsia Festival) and overseas to New Zealand (Otago Arts Festival), Norway (Tau Scene), Belgium (KunstenFESTIVALdesarts), Portugal (Alkantara Festival) and Canada (Push Festival). Nicholas has appeared solo and in ensemble at the Chinese Gardens Chamber Music Festival (Sydney), National Multicultural Festival (Canberra), Woodford Folk Festival (Woodford), Music by the Sea (Brisbane) and Queensland Multicultural Festival (Brisbane).
In 2011, Nicholas performed in a special program of Chinese traditional and contemporary pieces with guzheng player Lu Jingjing and pianist Wade Gregory on ABC Sunday Live (presented by Fern Li Ong).
