Medieval Knights
These Medieval Knights are a group dedicated to recreating the spectacle and excitement of the high medieval tournament. They combine theatre, martial arts, historical research and crafts to take you back in history.
England and France are exhausted from over thirty years of constant warfare, and plague and famine stalk the land. Companies of armed marauders ravage entire provinces, owing allegiance to no-one but themselves. It is also a time of chivalry and Courtly Love, of colour and pageantry. It is a time of light and learning of Chaucer, of Dante, Boccacio and Petrarch. It is the era of the Hundred Years War and the dawning of the Italian Renaissance.
Over the past fifteen years, they have developed an enthusiastic following amongst south-east Queensland festival audiences and an enviable reputation amongst its international peers.
The Medieval Knights focuses on the culture of western and central European nobility during the high middle ages. The fashions, arms, armour and accessories used by the group are typical of the closing years of the fourteenth century.
The Medieval Knights combine theatre, martial arts, historical research and crafts to recreate the appearance and atmosphere of a tournament encampment in the mid to late 14th Century.
